Description
Because of the natural surroundings of rolling grassy dunes with deep green forest backdrops, Oval Beach in Saugatuck of Southwest Michigan USA is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world according to Conde Nast Travel Magazine, Chicago Tribune and too many other sources to mention here. This dune sits behind the beach where I photographed it one balmy summer day during the light of the late afternoon! The deep gray luminous clouds overhead make the warm glowing light of the sun filtering over the dunes pop! The bowl concave shape of the dunes are caused by the westerly winds whipping up the sand and dropping it behind the dune where it mounts! The beach grass sets its roots and plays its part by controlling erosion and the sand continues to build the dunes!
