Description
A fine art photo of the 1939 era schooner "The Western Union" shown docked at Key West Florida marina before her restoration. Textures and other digital techniques are added to the original photo for a rustic aged character.
Her sign reads:
"Main Cargo Hold, Originally designed to hold 20 miles of cable and 80 tons of cargo, The Western Union has been modified to 20 bunks, 2 heads and a refrigerator system"!
In lieu of a restoration project she has her own Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/schoonerwesternunion/
Here's one of the FB posts from July 2016:
"The Schooner Western Union left her berth at the Key West Bight on Wednesday morning headed for Marpro Boatyard in Tarpon Springs. Capt. Lenn Verreau has reported that the ship arrived safely at the boatyard this morning. Restoration efforts are officially underway. Watch this space for updates and photographs. Pictured is the Schooner leaving the dock on Wednesday morning. #SchoonerWesternUnion #FloridaStateFlagship #SaveOurSchooner."
After the estimated $750,000 restoration of the 130 foot Florida state flagship, she will set sail the early part of 2017 to offer daily sails and private charters. I just added this adventure to my bucket list!

Love your processing of this image of Key West's Flagship in restoration, Kathi! From a 2015 image on their FB page, the Western Union looks like a magnificent vessel! l/f
